COMING TO A NEIGHBOURHOOD NEAR YOU SOON!

This is the result of Chinese Developers cutting corners, saving money and not being supervised by the authorities. Could this happen in Penang?
Ivory, Bolton Surin, Plentitude or Asia Pacific Land?
No, Not possible it never rains in Penang!

Yes it is a 13 story building and it is lying on its face!

The contractor built the building, then needed to build an underground garage! A hole was excavated to a depth of 4.6 meters on one side of the building and the earth was piled on the other side of the building. This resulted in a sideways pressure of some 3,000 tons which the hollow unreinforced foundations were not designed to stand! Then it started raining and softened the ground.
The results are clear to see!
MPPP and Penang watch this space!

CALLING FOR MORATORIUM ON ALL CONDOMINIUM DEVELOPMENT ON THE PENANG NORTH COAST

The need is pressing for a Moratorium on any further condominium development on the North Coast. The overdevelopment is clear for all to see. How the overdevelopment came about is questionable and readers of his blog may have answers and their own story to tell. Specifically, I am calling on the CM of the Penang State Government and the various Departments involved (please supply a full written report by the Geotechnical Dept in particular) in the planning process to wake up to the clear and present danger that residents of the North Coast are exposed to. Finally we have a stop work order issued to the contractor for flying rocks, but all readers of this blog need to know there are silent killers and they are the hillsides and slopes which are not being reinforced and combined with the possibility of negligent building practices can result in tragedy. Our lives are in danger. Let me assure any reader if they think this cannot occur in Penang of the following:

In 1972 in Hong Kong, after 3 months of heavy rain, an entire side of a hill swept down, taking one block of units crashing into another causing severe and devasting loss of life.As a result the HK Government issued a Moratorium on all further development. This was in place over a 20 year period. Global warming is upon us and persistent heavy rain causes soil (and if there is disintegration of underlying rock) to slip. There is now severe overdevelopment on the hillslopes of Penang with an ALARMING % of more to come. The North Coast is a disaster due to happen. It is no longer a matter of IF but WHEN? How can we avert a disaster? BEGIN THE PROCESS BY GOING TO YOUR NEIGHBOURHOOD ASSOCIATION (Tanjong Bungah and the newly formed Batu Ferringhi Residents Association - others) REQUESTING AN IMMEDIATE MORATORIUM ON ANY FURTHER DEVELOPMENT. ALSO FULL PUBLIC DISCLOSURE BY THE PENANG STATE GOVERNMENT AND ITS DEPARTMENTS ON PROPERTIES THAT HAVE HAD PLANNING PERMISSION FOR 2010 - 2015 AND WHAT THE GOVERNMENT INTENDS DOING TO STOP ANY FURTHER BUILDING AND TO PROTECT THE LIVES OF ITS CITIZENS LIVING ON OR NEAR THE HILLSLOPES? WHAT WILL THE COMPENSATION BE FOR LOSS OF LIFE AND PROPERTY? We call for full disclosure, transparency and immediate action.
A concerned North Coast owner
